
The two charges were read in the sessions court here this morning before judge Suzana Hussin.
The Segambut Bersatu deputy chief is alleged to have solicited between 3.5% and 7% of a RM47.8 million road construction project in Perlis.
The project was awarded by Putrajaya through direct negotiation.
Adam Radlan, 42, is said to have solicited the money at a restaurant here in March last year from Mat Jusoh Mamat, managing director of MIE Infrastructure and Energy Sdn Bhd, as a kickback for the company to obtain a letter of agreement for the project under Jana Wibawa.
He is also alleged to have accepted RM500,000 from Mat Jusoh that was deposited into his CIMB bank account to help obtain the acceptance letter.
The offence was allegedly committed on Nov 26, 2021 at the Bukit Tunku CIMB branch here.
The charges were framed under Section 16(a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act and punishable under Section 24(1) of the same Act, which provides for up to 20 years’ jail and a minimum fine of RM10,000 upon cionviction.
Suzana granted Adam Radlan bail of RM120,000 in two sureties and ordered him to surrender his passport to the court.
He was also ordered to report himself to MACC every month until the date of his trial.
The judge set March 23 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Farah Yasmin Salleh prosecuted, while lawyers Rajan Navaratnam and Roshan Selvaratnam appeared for the accused.
Earlier, Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan claimed trial to soliciting an undisclosed amount and accepting RM6.9 million in bribes in relation to Jana Wibawa.
Wan Saiful is alleged to have accepted RM6.9 million through a CIMB bank account belonging to his company, WSA Advisory Group Sdn Bhd, from a Maybank account of Nepturis Sdn Bhd.
He is also alleged to have solicited an unspecified amount from Lian Tan Chuan at the Royal Lake Club here in April last year to help the company secure the RM232 million Central Spine Road project from the federal government.
Wan Saiful and Adam Radlan were arrested by MACC yesterday.
