State police chief Rohaimi Isa said those interviewed included the organising committee members. “We will also call in a few more witnesses, including the participants,” Sinar Harian quoted him as saying.
He said three reports had been lodged about the parade, in which a group of men carried replica weapons while marching at a PAS gathering known as Himpunan Pemuda Islam Terengganu.
Pictures of the men, in military costumes carrying replica weapons, were widely shared online, as well as photographs of a giant replica sword carried on a vehicle.
Organisers of the gathering said the replicas were among the items used for a competition at the gathering.
The parade had been criticised by home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail earlier today. He said the parade was inappropriate and could create uneasiness among the public.
He said matters involving race, religion and royalty had yet to subside after the 2022 general election.
