PETALING JAYA:
A 22-year-old suspect who stabbed a patient at Selayang Hospital last Tuesday was alleged to have behaved violently at his sister’s house before being brought to the hospital, police said.

Acting Selangor police chief S Sasikala Devi said the suspect was originally from Lahad Datu, Sabah, and had visited his sister in Kuala Lumpur.

“Our investigation found that the suspect was behaving aggressively at his sister’s house. After he calmed down, he was brought to Selayang Hospital in a car with his family members at 1.25am.

“The vehicle he was in was escorted by two motorcycles from the motorcycle patrol units (URB) until they arrived at Selayang Hospital. After that, the police officers departed for other duties,” Berita Harian quoted Sasikala as saying at a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters today.

“The hospital has informed us that the suspect is in no condition for an interview (with the police).

“At the same time, we are also waiting for the psychiatric report before commencing further investigations.”

The suspect had stabbed a 29-year-old patient in the left hip with a knife.

He is undergoing treatment and has been placed at the Selayang Hospital’s psychiatric ward.
