In a Facebook post yesterday, Lokman said he was informed of the decision by Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan by phone.
“I have just received a call from Mohamad that the Supreme Council meeting has nullified my expulsion.
“Now I’m back as a Supreme Council member. Thank you to the president, deputy president, Supreme Council members and everyone who prayed for me,” he said.
He also said that with this nullification, his right to contest in the upcoming party elections has also been reinstated.
Lokman was sacked from Umno on Feb 7, 2020.
It was previously reported that he had been referred to the party’s disciplinary board for his remarks against Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He had criticised Zahid for being “weak” and “having no principles” over Zahid’s alleged remarks that Umno must work with then prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad as PAS was doing so.
Yesterday, Tengku Zafrul Aziz was also sworn in as a Supreme Council member.
Earlier this month, he had said he would be vying for one of the 25 seats in the council.
The international trade and industry minister said this was because he wanted to build his political foundation and ensure his long-term success.
