He said this was necessary for the welfare of students and to boost the country’s education standards.

Anwar indicated that the 2023 federal budget, to be tabled on Feb 24, would ensure these schools are repaired, Bernama reported.

Speaking at a hi-tea with Hindu temple leaders in Seri Perdana, he said education minister Fadhlina Sidek and higher education minister Khaled Nordin had been instructed to list these dilapidated schools.

“Our duty, starting this year, is to ensure special emphasis is given to fix all these dilapidated schools in the country.”

Anwar said the Malay language, as the official language, should be mastered well by all Malaysians.

“If there are Chinese, Tamil or private schools in Malaysia planning to reduce emphasis on the national language, I won’t allow it,” he said.

Anwar said mastering other languages should be supported as this would bring knowledge and benefit the country.
