SHAH ALAM:
The Selangor department of occupational safety and health has issued a notice of repair to a car service centre in the Hicom-Glenmarie industrial area here, following the death of a worker who fell off a ladder last month.

The department said the male worker, 56, suffered head injury on Jan 20. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and was to undergo surgery on his head, but died at about 12.14am on Feb 8.

An initial investigation showed that the man, who was on patrol at the premises, had found faulty fluorescent lamps.

“The victim tried to change the tube by using an A-frame ladder alone, as his colleague was on sick leave,” the department said.

“However, the victim is suspected to have fallen from a height of 3.4 metres when trying to put the cover back on.”

Further investigations will be carried out to identify the causes of the accident, and the parties responsible.

Legal action would be taken if there is a violation under the provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
