
He said MCMC first needs to present the targets and related matters regarding the second phase, as well as wait for the green light from the communications and digital ministry and its minister, Fahmi Fadzil, regarding the implementation.
“We will present it to the ministry, once we receive the ‘clearance’ from the minister, then we can start,” he told Bernama after officiating the Accelerated Leadership Programme (ALP) Series Cohort 1 closing ceremony, here.
“The target for the second phase is to complete connectivity for the remaining 3% of the population in the community. It is the most challenging area, which is inland and remote, including the Orang Asli settlements,” he said.
He added that the first phase of Jendela, which was completed in December 2022, had achieved 4G coverage of 96.92%, while in terms of speed, it has reached an average of 77Mbps, compared with the initial target of 35Mbps.
Phase 2 of Jendela will take place between 2023 and 2025.
