PETALING JAYA: Three years after the Covid-19 pandemic first swept into Malaysia, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah paid tribute to the frontliners who worked tirelessly to curb the spread of the virus.
“In a blink of an eye, three years have passed since we first faced the Covid-19 pandemic,” Noor Hisham said in a tweet today.
“The first case was detected on Jan 25, 2020. At that time, it was known as 2019-nCoV.
“My appreciation to all the frontliners.”
Noor Hisham also offered his condolences to all those who lost friends and family members.
“Let us pray that this pandemic will end soon and no longer burdens society,” he said.
To date, Malaysia has recorded 5.03 million Covid-19 infections and 36,933 deaths.
So far, 98.4% of adults have been fully vaccinated while 84.3% of the total population is fully vaccinated.
