Orang Asli teen dies in elephant attack at durian orchard

The elephant had been spotted at a nearby village but the residents had chased it away to the orchard, police said.

An Orang Asli teenage boy was killed after he was attacked by an elephant in a durian orchard in Kampung Tual at Pos Sinderut near Kuala Lipis today.

Lipis district police chief Azli Mohd Noor said the village chief (tok batin) had reported the attack at 4.30pm.

He said Andy Yok Manin, 15, was with his family at the durian orchard at the time.

The elephant had been spotted at Kampung Regang but residents managed to chase the elephant away to the durian orchard, about 30km from the boy’s home, he said.
