Ban late-night alcohol sales, says DPM’s aide

Ramesh Rao, a special officer in charge of Indian affairs, says alcohol consumption late at night leads to excessive drinking, resulting in road accidents, fights and crime.

A ban on late-night sale of alcohol would allow families to live happily, says an aide to a deputy prime minister.
KUALA LUMPUR:
Local authorities should ban the sale of alcohol after 10pm at all 24-hour premises, says Ramesh Rao, the special officer in charge of Indian affairs to deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said the consumption of alcohol late at night usually led to excessive drinking, resulting in road accidents, fights and crime.

“Apart from this, a ban will protect the younger generation from engaging in activities that are not beneficial, are pointless and harmful,” he said in a statement today.

Rao, who is also president of Pertubuhan Minda dan Sosial Prihatin, said the ban would be of benefit to families exposed to the danger posed by alcohol consumption.
