KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is investigating reports alleging several DBKL enforcement officers are involved in corruption.
“Investigations are underway. If any wrongdoing was committed, action will be taken,” said KL mayor Mahadi Che Ngah at a press conference.
Earlier, The Star reported that several DBKL enforcement officers were allegedly soliciting bribes from mandarin orange traders in Kuchai Entrepreneurs Park, Kuchai Lama, after they had violated licensing guidelines.
A senior DBKL official reportedly said the matter was being investigated and that some officers would be questioned.
Mahadi advised all officers and staff against abusing their power, warning that action would be taken against anyone who tarnished DBKL’s integrity.
