Following the uproar over the video, health authorities paid a visit to the stall and found that the hygiene level was unsatisfactory. The closure notice was issued by the northeast district health office under Section 11 of the Food Act 1983.
The operator was also issued a RM500 compound for failing to send its workers for a food-handling course. The stall was reportedly still teeming with customers when authorities checked on the premises today.
The 53-second video showed a worker taking chicken eggs that purportedly had not been washed and placing them in a basket near where the roti canai was being made. Some of the eggs had fecal matter on them.
The owner of the stall, Shahjahan Abdul Hamid, apologised to customers over the matter and said he will comply with the closure notice, reported Berita Harian.
Shahjahan also said he will use the two weeks to clean up the stall.
Meanwhile, a drinks stall nearby was issued a RM500 compound after cross-contamination was found in a refrigerator.
