Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd (MKL) and Hydroshoppe Sdn Bhd said they took the spread of such information seriously.
“Legal action will be taken against parties involved where we will claim losses and damages,” they said in a joint statement.
MKL and Hydroshoppe also said they would reach out to the communications and digital ministry to “set the record straight”.
“We would like to stress that dealings with regard to MKL had all been done above board and through proper due diligence.”
They also called on social media users to stop sharing “false information” and making “defamatory statements and speculations” that could undermine their reputation.
Questions have been raised about the acquisition of MKL, which manages the tower, by Hydroshoppe, including the lack of a public announcement.
Communications and digital minister Fahmi Fadzil had said he was scrutinising the acquisition, while the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has launched a probe into it.
Former communications and multimedia minister Annuar Musa had denied that he was involved in the approval of a tender for the new concessionaire operating and managing the KL Tower.
The tower is owned by the government while its operations and maintenance had been granted to MKL, a wholly-owned TM subsidiary, since 1996.
