KUALA LUMPUR:
Floods in Terengganu and Sabah continued to recede, leaving just one temporary evacuation centre (PPS) in each state operating as of tonight.

In Kelantan, all PPS were closed.

In Terengganu, the secretariat of the state disaster management committee said the number of flood victims placed at Masjid Kampung La PPS in Besut remained at 53 from 12 families.

However, all the victims were expected to call the PPS “home” for a long time because most of their houses had been swept away by the floods.

In Sabah, the number of evacuees affected by the king tide phenomenon dropped to 688. They remained at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Anib 2 in Sandakan. Earlier, in the afternoon, the school was providing shelter to 1,454 people.

In Kelantan, the last PPS at Pusat Tarbiyah Pohon Buluh in Pasir Mas, which accommodated 17 people from five families this afternoon was closed at 6.15pm after they were allowed to return to their homes.
