
He replaces Jailani Yunus, who recently retired.
Sayuthi, 52, took his oath of office before chief minister Chow Kon Yeow and the state executive council in Komtar this morning.
After serving as PJ mayor from April 2019 to May 2021, Sayuthi was made home ministry deputy director-general.
He had served as the president of the Kajang and Sepang municipal councils prior to that.
He began his career in the civil service as an enforcement assistant director at the immigration department in 1995.
Sayuthi has a degree in Southeast Asian studies from Universiti Malaya and a masters in information technology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
