SEREMBAN:
An armed forces lorry transporting 13 soldiers hit the lane divider at a toll plaza on the Seremban-Port Dickson Expressway here.

Seremban police chief Nanda Maarof said the lorry driver and three passengers suffered serious injuries.

Eight other passengers were slightly injured while another two escaped unhurt, he said in a statement here today.

Nanda said the crash, which occurred at 7.10pm yesterday, was believed to have been caused by defective brakes.

He said the three-tonne lorry was in the leftmost lane at the time.

Nanda said the soldiers had finished basic training and were on their way from Si Rusa Camp in Port Dickson to Terminal One, Seremban, from where they would head home for the holidays.

Nanda said the 12 injured, aged between 19 and 25, were sent to hospital.
