
A total of 161,063 eligible voters were involved in the polls, which had to be postponed following the death of Pakatan Harapan candidate M Karupaiya who was contesting the Padang Serai seat and Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) Yunus Ramli in Tioman.
A total of 132,955 individuals were involved in early voting for Padang Serai and 28,108 for Tioman.
The Election Commission said as at 4pm, voter turnout in Padang Serai was at 63% and Tioman, 54%.
There were a total of 46 polling centres with 230 voting streams in Padang Serai, and 17 polling centres with 52 voting streams in Tioman.
The contest for the Padang Serai parliamentary seat initially saw a six-cornered fight involving candidates from PH, Barisan Nasional (BN), PN, Pejuang, Warisan and an independent.
However, on Dec 2, BN agreed to give way to PH for the parliamentary seat.
The battle for the Tioman state seat initially involved candidates from BN, PN, PH, Pejuang and an independent, but PH subsequently withdrew from the race.
