“Not until the next general election,” Hadi said when asked to respond on the claims.
He added that Perikatan Nasional (PN) will seek to widen its influence before the next polls, after snatching 73 seats in the recent general election.
When asked to confirm that there were no plans to topple the government, Hadi said PAS will consider the government’s performance and Malaysians’ response to Anwar’s administration first.
Yesterday, Arau MP Shahidan Kassim reportedly claimed there were plans to topple the government and put PN in power. The former Perlis menteri besar was also quoted as saying PN was working towards “ensuring the Cabinet will not last long”.
Hadi was speaking to reporters outside the Sentul district police headquarters (IPD) after he had given a statement over a police report made against him.
He said it involved allegedly inflammatory comments he had made online.
He added that everything had gone smoothly and that he fully cooperated with the police.
“I’m ready for the next course of action, if they would call me to the court, or anything else.”
According to Hadi, the police did not say if he needed to return to give another statement.
Hadi’s lawyer, Wan Rohaimi Wan Daud, confirmed that the Marang MP was being investigated under Section 505 of the Penal Code for making statements conducive to public mischief with intent to incite the community into committing an offence against other communities, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998 for abuse of network services.
Last week, Pakatan Harapan (PH) lodged a report over Hadi’s cryptic comment of a football referee providing “extra time for the losing side” after the match was over, saying that the comment is tantamount to treason.
His comment, a quotation from a column he wrote for the party organ Harakah, was interpreted as a reference to the formation of a unity federal government as advised by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. It drew angry responses on Twitter.
Late last month, Ampang PKR lodged a report against Hadi over his claim that DAP promoted Islamophobia and prevented PAS from being in a position of power. He described the PH component party as “immoral”.
