PAS central committee member Zuhdi Marzuki questioned how the government would prepare for the possibility of floods with prolonged torrential rain predicted over the coming week without a “complete” administration.
He asked how emergency funds would be released during crises or emergencies for rescue missions and aid to flood victims, questioning how these funds would be managed if no ministers were appointed yet.
In a Facebook post, Zuhdi also said the government will have to make critical decisions during disasters such as floods, adding that it would be unwise for the prime minister to solely make such calls.
“PH was outspoken in opposing holding the general election because of possible floods. Now, floods could be happening soon, but the prime minister has yet to prepare his machinery.
“On top of that, Anwar’s delay in forming his administration could also delay the tabling of Budget 2023. What will happen if the budget still isn’t passed by next year?
“Clearly, Anwar has been very slow in naming his Cabinet despite the current circumstances. What’s clear is that he has been busy with social activities rather than quickly activating his administration’s machinery. In just a week, he has made his first failure,” he said.
Anwar met the Yang di-Pertuan Agong this morning for nearly an hour and is believed to have submitted his proposed Cabinet.
He is speculated to unveil his line-up later today.
