PETALING JAYA:
The Selangor fire and rescue department has confirmed that a viral video of a group of students sitting for their Kafa class assessment test (UPKK) in a flooded classroom was taken at a religious school in Kajang yesterday.

Speaking to FMT, Selangor fire and rescue department director Norazam Khamis said the school was located in a low-lying area that was often hit by flash floods.

Norazam said the water level started rising at around 4.30pm yesterday due to the heavy rain in Kajang which lasted for over an hour.

He said the flooding affected 64 11-year-old pupils who were sitting for their UPKK under the supervision of eight teachers.

“The situation was under control and there were no untoward incidents. The water receded at about 7pm,” he told FMT.

Stating that the water level reached 0.6m, Norazam said the flooding was only in the area around the school.
