In a post on its Facebook page, the coalition said a statement making the claims was fake.
In the statement, BN congratulated Anwar Ibrahim on his appointment as prime minister with the conditional support of its 30 MPs via statutory declarations.
It also claimed that BN was grateful to Anwar for fulfilling a pledge to appoint a deputy prime minister from the coalition, as agreed in a meeting between BN and Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders at Hotel Seri Pacific in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 21.
According to the “statement”, Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan was the coalition’s choice for the post of deputy prime minister. It also gave a list of several Umno leaders to be given specific portfolios in the Cabinet.
BN is part of the Anwar-led unity government, which also comprises PH, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), with support from MPs from Muda, Warisan, Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) and independents.
