PETALING JAYA:
The Sabah state assembly, which is holding its budget meeting, will carry on tomorrow, although a public holiday has been declared for Nov 28 by the new prime minister, Anwar Ibrahim.
Kadzim Yahya.

The speaker of the assembly, Kadzim Yahya, said the decision to continue with the meeting was made on the recommendation of the leader of the House, Hajiji Noor, who is chief minister and also finance minister, Astro Awani reported.

Kadzim said the assembly’s standing orders provided that the leader of the House could propose that meetings be held even on public holidays or on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Hajiji, who is assemblyman for Sulaman, had presented the state’s budget for 2023 on Friday.

Kadzim said the House would debate the Supplementary Supply Bill, with two more bills to be presented including proposals from the state ministry of housing and local government.

The state assembly meeting had been scheduled for Monday to Thursday.
