PETALING JAYA:
DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook has urged Malaysians to keep calm and be patient as the nation waits for the King’s decision on who forms the next federal government.

Loke said this process of forming the government was something new for Malaysia but normal in a Westminster parliamentary democracy when no party or coalition wins a simple majority in an election.

“DAP will always uphold the principles of the Rukun Negara and defend the Federal Constitution.

“DAP urges all parties and DAP members to ensure the harmony and public peace at all times. Peace and harmony in the community must be preserved,” he said in a statement.

Yesterday, Pakatan Harapan chairman and PKR president Anwar Ibrahim confirmed that PH and BN were in negotiations to jointly form the federal government.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, has given party leaders and heads of coalitions until 2pm to propose their prime ministerial candidate.
