MySPR Semak site is up again after ‘crash’

The website for voters to check details such as their polling centre and stream went down again this morning.

The EC website for Malaysians to check their voter details had gone down yesterday around noon but was back up and running in the evening.
PETALING JAYA:
The Election Commission’s MySPR Semak website is active again after crashing for several hours this morning.

Netizens took to social media to complain about the matter after the website – https://mysprsemak.spr.gov.my – which is meant for voters to check details like their polling centre and stream, went down.

While some had expressed their frustration towards the site’s failure, others suggested downloading the MySPR application on their mobile devices.

Twitter user @hanimomo said it was a “classic Malaysian story for the EC website to go down on polling day, when it was a crucial source of voting information for Malaysians.”

However, other Twitter users were quick to point out that voters could get that information through the MySPR app or the EC booths at polling stations.

Earlier, netizens had also complained that the response time on the MySPR Semak website was slow and the user interface was also outdated.

A Twitter user @jildola quipped: “My MySpace page looked better than this MySPR Semak page. It’s also not loading.”

Another netizen @diyanashari questioned why the EC was not prepared for the heavy traffic on polling day when it could have been anticipated.

The site had gone down yesterday around noon but was back up and running in the evening. The Vibes reported that the website was offline for maintenance ahead of polling day.
