
It said that based on rain forecast information there is a possibility of flash floods in several locations if heavy rain or a significant thunderstorm occurs within 24 hours from 4pm today, when the notice was issued.
The areas that might be affected are:
Penang: Barat Daya, Seberang Perai Tengah, Seberang Perai Utara and Timur Laut; Perak: Hilir Perak, Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama; Terengganu: Besut;
Selangor: Klang and Petaling; Negeri Sembilan: Port Dickson; Melaka: Melaka Tengah; Johor: Batu Pahat and Pontian;
Sabah: Beaufort; Sarawak: Limbang, Bintulu and Kuching.
The department said the notice was issued to allow all residents, especially in high-risk areas, to be aware of any possibility of flash floods during the period.
The meteorological department says coastal areas of Kelantan and Terengganu may experience thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds.
It forecasts squall line incidents in the Straits of Malacca from Monday, with the potential to bring thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in the west coast states of the Peninsula, especially in the morning.
