PLUS issues advisory with 2mil expected to go home for GE15

COO Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi says PLUS is beefing up its highway operations and is temporarily halting all maintenance works.

PLUS advised motorists to plan their journey in view of the expected increase in traffic from Nov 16 to 21.

PLUS has issued a travel time advisory (TTA) for voters going outstation to cast their ballots this Saturday.

The highway concessionaire’s COO Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi said those travelling out of Klang Valley to Perlis, Kedah, Penang, and northern Perak and Johor from Nov 16 to 21 are encouraged to enter the highway before 10am.

“Motorists heading towards other states should enter the highway between 1pm and 4pm,” he said in a statement.

Zakaria added PLUS would beef up its highway operations, and would temporarily halt all maintenance, upgrading and construction works along the highways it operates.

“A total of 200 PLUSRonda units will patrol the highways 24-hours daily and 1,500 personnel will be stationed at toll plazas.”

PLUS operates the North-South Expressway, New Klang Valley Expressway, Seremban-Port Dickson Highway, North-South Expressway Central Link, Malaysia-Singapore Second Link, Butterworth-Kulim Expressway, and the Penang Bridge.

Zakaria said about 1.8 million to 1.9 million vehicles are expected to be on these highways from Nov 17 to 19.

He also advised motorists to plan their journey in view of the expected increase in traffic and travel time during this period.
