He said he was informed of this after he filed a police report against the two at the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters earlier.
“I was informed by the police that investigation papers have been opened for both cases at Bukit Aman,” he told reporters.
He said the police also informed him that the two incidents involving the duo were being investigated under the Penal Code, Multimedia and Communications Act 1998 and Election Offences Act 1954.
According to him, he had “just only learned” that Section 4A of the Election Offences Act relates to promoting feelings of ill-will or hostility during campaigning.
Rafizi said he hoped all election candidates will learn a lesson from the incidents and not engage in campaigns that touch on racial sensitivities.
He said he will instruct lawyers from PKR to review the campaigns of its candidates and those of opposing parties to see if they have broken the law.
He said he would not hesitate to take legal action against those who played on racial sentiments in their campaigns, including among PKR members.
Rafizi had gone to the police headquarters to file a report against Shahiful, who had been reported as saying anyone who voted for Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional in the general election would go to hell.
He also filed a report against Zul for criminal intimidation and intent to incite for allegedly saying he wanted to slaughter “kafir harbi” (enemies of Islam) .
Zul has since apologised for his remarks made in Terengganu on Nov 4, which were captured on a widely-shared video clip.
Yesterday, Bernama reported that Shahiful had applied for leave from his duties as well as all other party positions. He said his application was made voluntarily and he took full responsibility for what happened.
