52% early voter turnout as of 11am

Some 578 early voting centres across the nation opened at 8am.

According to the latest electoral roll, 117,473 members of the armed forces and their spouses, as well as 107,355 police personnel and their spouses, are eligible for early voting.

Early voting for the general election (GE15) and Bugaya state by-election in Sabah, has seen a turnout of 52% as of 11am this morning, says the Election Commission (EC).

Bernama reported that 578 early voting centres opened at 8am.

According to the latest electoral roll, 117,473 members of the armed forces and their spouses, as well as 107,355 police personnel and their spouses, are eligible for early voting.

The polling centres at state and district police headquarters as well as army camps will close in stages from noon until 5pm.

The electoral roll for GE15 has 21.2 million electors, with 20.91 million of them ordinary voters.

This general election will see 945 candidates vying for 222 parliamentary seats nationwide. Meanwhile, a total of 434 candidates will be vying for the state seats in Perak (59), Pahang (42), and Perlis (15).

Polling day is this Saturday.
