
Hasni, the former Johor menteri besar, said he expected even more surveys to be conducted by the various parties in contention right up to polling day on Nov 19.
“I think, until Nov 19, no party will be in a comfortable position to win the general election,” he told reporters on the sidelines of an event here.
“Also, whatever studies may be conducted, ultimately the results of the voting on Nov 19 will be the most accurate,” he quipped.
Merdeka Center programmes director Ibrahim Suffian was recently reported to have said that Muhyiddin Yassin’s Perikatan Nasional (PN) was projected to gain a swing in votes from the Malay electorate.
He also said if Malay support for PN continued to grow, it could eclipse Umno and BN in the overall number of parliamentary seats.
Hasni, who is the Johor BN elections director, said he kept a close eye on the coalition’s progress in the 26 parliamentary seats in the state. He added that he would ensure the BN machinery were not lackadaisical on the ground.
He also advised all BN workers and volunteers not to respond to provocation from their rivals, urging all parties to be mature and protect the safety of voters.
This comes after a tent near an MIC operations room in Taman Mutiara, Batu Pahat was set on fire. A man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
