PETALING JAYA:
Another immigration officer was arrested on Nov 7 at the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar in Johor for alleged involvement in human trafficking.

According to Bernama, immigration director-general Khairul Dzaimee Daud said the officer had been released on bail. This was the third arrest following separate operations in the past month.

On Oct 12, one officer was arrested at the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB), in Iskandar Puteri, Johor while another was detained at klia2 on Nov 1.

Khairul said the immigration department will not compromise with officers found to be involved in human trafficking, adding that they faced strict action if found guilty.

On Oct 12, the department also detained 25 Indonesian migrants believed to have entered the country without valid documents at KSAB. Six Indian nationals were detained at klia2 for the same reason on Nov 1.

Two days ago, 12 Indonesian migrants were detained during an inspection at the Sultan Iskandar CIQ complex for entering the country without any valid documents.
