Pejuang president Mukhriz Mahathir said Rofaie did this after the party did not name him as its candidate for the Temerloh parliamentary seat.
Mukhriz maintained that the seat allocations for the various components under the Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) coalition was conducted via consensus.
He also denied Rofaie’s claim that Pejuang chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad was threatened by certain parties who laid claim to several seats.
“If Rofaie was chosen as a candidate, he wouldn’t have (backed PN). I’m sure that his statement, that PN candidates (in parliamentary and state seats) purportedly had a good record in Temerloh, was only made because we did not name him for the (parliamentary) seat.
“His actions have caused him to be sacked from Pejuang, effective immediately,” Mukhriz said in a statement.
GTA will be contesting under the Pejuang banner in this general election.
