Candidates start arriving for nomination, with some fanfare

Candidates standing in the general election (GE15) have started arriving at their respective nomination centres, with some fanfare.

Pejuang’s Khairuddin Abu Hassan arrived at the nomination centre for the Titiwangsa parliamentary seat at 7.30am, accompanied by a group of about 30 supporters.

He was spotted leading the group in a prayer before they marched to the nomination centre at SMK Aminuddin Baki.

Meanwhile, the Barisan Nasional candidate for Jerai, Jamil Khir Baharom, was all smiles as he arrived at the nomination centre for the parliamentary seat, decked in a blue baju Melayu.

He was joined by a large group of supporters, who carried large BN flags as they headed towards the nomination centre.

Meanwhile, human rights lawyer and activist Siti Kasim was the first to arrive at the nomination centre for the Batu parliamentary seat. She arrived at SMK Sentul Utama at 7.30am.

Siti, who is standing as an independent candidate, said she was expecting to face nine other candidates in the fight for the seat.

Another individual who raised eybrows when he arrived at the Batu nomination centre was its former MP, Tian Chua. The former PKR vice-president is expected to contest the seat as an independent.
