Nik Abduh, the former PAS Youth chief, is the son of the party’s late spiritual leader, Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

Tuan Ibrahim denied claims that Nik Abduh sitting out the coming general election (GE15) would tarnish his father’s legacy.

“Everyone must remember that the party’s struggle is not down to the individual but a (collective) cause to be fought for,” Sinar Harian quoted him as saying.

He gave an assurance that Nik Aziz’s legacy would remain intact and that the policies he introduced would continue within the party.

He also hoped that Nik Abduh would assist his replacement, Syahir Che Sulaiman, throughout the election campaign period.

Nik Abduh won the Bachok seat with a 3,292-vote majority in the last general election, defeating candidates from Umno and Bersatu.

PAS announced its lineup of candidates for GE15 last night. Apart from Nik Abduh, former Tumpat MP Che Abdullah Mat Nawi was also dropped from the lineup.

Kelantan Perikatan Nasional chairman Ahmad Yakob said Che Abdullah had failed to obtain approval from the PAS Syura Council for his candidacy.

Che Abdullah won the Tumpat parliamentary seat in GE14, defeating Umno’s Wan Johani Wan Hussin by 17,500 votes and a Bersatu candidate. In his place, Mumtaz Nawi will contest the Tumpat seat for PAS in the coming polls.
