
Two days ago, the former PAS central committee member said it was up to the Umno leadership to allow him to contest the seat on a BN ticket, adding that he had informed the coalition of his stance on the matter.
Khairuddin was a two-term Kuala Nerus MP before Parliament’s dissolution. He had defeated Umno and Amanah candidates by 8,447 votes in the last general election.
He was sacked as secretary of the PAS Syura Council on Feb 11. A month earlier he was expelled from the party’s central committee.
In March, the former plantation industries and commodities minister had said he would not join Umno or set up a new party after quitting PAS.
