KJ prepared for ‘mission impossible’ in Sungai Buloh

The former Rembau MP says he is hopeful of winning the parliamentary seat, even though he is the underdog.

Khairy Jamaluddin said he was in Sungai Buloh as he did not want to let the voters down.
SUNGAI BULOH:
Khairy Jamaluddin says he is prepared to wrest the Sungai Buloh parliamentary seat from the opposition, although it will be a difficult task.

The former Rembau MP said he was contesting to win, even though Barisan Nasional had lost the seat three times to Pakatan Harapan (PH) since 2008.

“God willing, we will do the impossible.”

In the last general election, PH’s R Sivarasa retained the seat with a 26,634 vote majority.

“I came here because I did not want to let you guys down.

“We must win it this time. I am hopeful even though I am the underdog,” he told a crowd here tonight.

Khairy also thanked Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar, Sungai Buloh Umno chief Megat Firdouz Megat Junid and MIC president SA Vigneswaran for allowing him to stand in the constituency.

Khairy said it was not easy to contest in an election.

“I had to meet Noh Omar, Vicky (Vigneswaran) and (Umno president Ahmad) Zahid (Hamidi).”

He also said that Umno and BN should be bold and stand in urban seats.

“Don’t tell me that we are relinquishing these urban seats,” he said, alluding to the trend of urban seats swinging to the opposition.

“I came because I want to win an urban seat.”
