This follows viral screenshots of an organisation named Muafakat Nasional (MN) listed on the Registrar of Societies’ database. The organisation listed Annuar as its president.
Annuar’s press secretary Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz told FMT that the former Ketereh MP had formed an NGO, not a political party.
Yesterday, it was confirmed that Barisan Nasional (BN) would not be fielding Annuar, a former Umno secretary-general, for the Ketereh seat.

The screenshot of the organisation on RoS’ Registry of Societies Electronic System (eROSES) further fuelled speculation that Annuar would still contest in GE15, since MN seemed to be in reference to the alliance between Umno and PAS.
In a Facebook post today, Annuar said there was still a platform for him to continue serving the people and uniting the ummah through welfare activities.
In his post, he attached the viral screenshot, an MN logo, as well as a copy of the NGO’s registration certificate from the RoS.
“Although discarded, one must remain a fighter,” he said.
When asked why the ex-BN secretary-general included the MN logo in his Facebook post, Faisal said to “check with Annuar”.
FMT has reached out to Annuar for comment.
Annuar was among notable Umno leaders left out of BN’s list of candidates for GE15 which was announced last night. He had said he would consult his supporters and gauge the public’s sentiments before deciding on his next move.
Kelantan Puteri Umno chief Marzuani Ardila Ariffin will be BN’s candidate in Ketereh.
