First NSC chief Wan Ahmad Radzi dies at 87

Wan Ahmad Radzi was the father of former television personality Wan Zaleha and former national woman cyclist Wan Maizan.

KUALA LUMPUR:
Wan Ahmad Radzi Wan Abdul Rahman, founding director-general of the National Sports Council, has died in hospital at the age of 87.

He was director-general of the National Youth and Sports Department in the early 1980s and was instrumental in activating the sports council as its first director-general from 1980 to 1981.

Wan Ahmad Radzi’s death was marked by a posting on the NSC’s Facebook page.

He will be buried at the Section 21 Muslim cemetery in Shah Alam.

Wan Ahmad Radzi was the father of former television personality Wan Zaleha Radzi, a former national equestrian athlete, and Wan Maizan Wan Radzi, a former national woman cyclist.

NSC director-general Ahmad Shapawi Ismail said Wan Ahmad Radzi had an interesting and firm personality.
