ALOR SETAR:
Three relief centres were opened last night to accommodate 167 people from 51 families who were evacuated following floods in the Padang Terap and Kubang Pasu districts.

Two of the centres are in the Padang Terap district. They are at SK Tualak, which is providing shelter for 43 people from 15 families, and SK Perik, which is accommodating 33 people from eight families.

Continuous rain since yesterday evening had caused the water in Sungai Janing to rise, leading to floods in Kampung Perik, Kampung Labi and Kampung Bendang Raja.

In the Kubang Pasu district, 91 people from 28 families sought shelter at the relief centre at SK Binjai after Kampung Telok, Kampung Bendang Dalam and Kampung Tanjung were flooded.
