A video of the incident has gone viral, showing the bloodied victim lying motionless on the ground after several men took turns to assault him.
Hulu Selangor district police chief Suffian Abdullah said the incident, which took place at Serendah at about 6pm yesterday, happened after the victim’s cousin had parked his car in front of the house.
The house owner reprimanded the cousin, and it escalated into a fight.
‘The victim tried to break up the fight but was also beaten up. The cousin managed to escape, but the victim was surrounded by a group believed to be friends of the house owner.
“He was then hit with a blunt object, leaving him bloodied and lying on the ground,” Suffian said in a statement.
He said the suspects have been identified and will be investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with a weapon, which provides for a five-year jail sentence, a fine or both, upon conviction.
Suffian urged residents not to panic, saying the police will ensure that action is taken against the suspects.
