PETALING JAYA: Mariah Khamis, the mother of PKR adviser and former deputy prime minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, passed away early this morning. She was 88.
Wan Azizah’s husband, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, confirmed Mariah’s passing and announced that he would be cancelling his tour of Sarawak that had been scheduled for today.
“(We have) just received sad news from Kuala Lumpur that the mother of Wan Azizah, Mariah, has passed away.
“I apologise to all Sarawak Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders and supporters for having to cancel the tour to Miri and Kuching scheduled for today,” the PH chairman said on Facebook.
Anwar said the funeral prayer will take place at 11.30am at Masjid Al Mustaqim in Ampang.
