PH, Muda seat negotiations taking place tomorrow, says Loke

DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook says detailed instructions have been given to Pakatan Harapan representatives for the meeting with Muda.

There are no obstacles for cooperation between Pakatan Harapan and Muda, says DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook.
PETALING JAYA:
Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Muda are set to discuss seat allocation for the 15th general election (GE15) tomorrow.

DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook said detailed instructions have been given to PH representatives for the meeting.

“The process (seat negotiations) may be slow and there may be some disappointments.

“However, no matter what, the process is ongoing and for me, there are no obstacles for cooperation with Muda,” he said at a Negeri Sembilan Muda event last night.

On Tuesday, Muda deputy president Amira Aisya Abd Aziz urged PH to quickly hold formal discussion on seat allocation for GE15.

She said formal discussions have yet to begin and that she has reached out to PH leaders seeking a meeting with its presidential council on the matter.

Amira also said Muda had agreed to PH’s three conditions for their electoral pact, including the party’s backing for PH’s prime ministerial candidate.

The other two conditions are that no party would demand to contest in seats held by their respective incumbents, and that Muda will need to obtain the PH presidential council’s permission if it wanted to work with other parties.

Previously, PH chairman Anwar Ibrahim said the coalition was only considering an electoral pact with Muda for GE15 instead of admitting it as a component party.

Anwar said it would be difficult to bring Muda in as PH’s fifth component party as it would need to be approved by the Registrar of Societies.
