Peninsula coalition keen to work with GPS, says Abang Jo

The PBB president, however, says GPS has yet to decide on the matter.

GPS chairman Abang Johari Openg said the coalition would be revealing its manifesto soon.
KUCHING:
A coalition from Peninsular Malaysia is interested in working with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the 15th general election (GE15), says the latter’s chairman Abang Johari Openg.

However, Abang Johari said GPS had yet to decide on the matter.

“When you are attractive, everybody wants to be associated with you.

“There are those (who are interested in working together) but we will wait first. (Right now) we are in the loving process, not decided, and not engaged,” he said after chairing a GPS Supreme Council meeting, here, today.

Meanwhile, Abang Johari, who is also the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) president, said GPS would be revealing its manifesto for GE15 soon and it would focus on Sarawak’s development.

“Apart from that, all parliamentary seats that will be contested by GPS have been identified and decided by the component parties,” he said.

GPS is a coalition of parties comprising PBB, Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), Parti Demokratik Progresif (PDP) and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP).

In GE14, PBB contested 14 parliamentary seats, SUPP (7), PRS (six) and PDP (four).

Caretaker Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the dissolution of Parliament on Oct 10, paving the way for GE15.

The Election Commission (EC) will have a special meeting on Oct 20 to fix the nomination and polling dates.
