KUALA LUMPUR: A foreign man was detained by police yesterday on suspicion of killing his Malaysian lover in a Bukit Bintang hotel room on Thursday.
Dang Wangi police chief Noor Delihan Yahaya said the 36-year-old woman was found dead on the floor of the hotel room with strangulation marks around her neck, believed to have been caused by a rope found at the scene.
A 27-year-old man was arrested in Sentul on Friday night.
The motive and cause of the incident are still under investigation, Noor Delihan said. The suspect had no criminal history, but had an expired passport according to the copy he presented.
The man has been remanded for a week.
