PETALING JAYA:
Bersatu has urged the government to focus on preparing for the floods amid speculation that the 15th general election (GE15) would be held soon.

Its secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin said the government should focus and prioritise on preparations as the northeast monsoon season is approaching.

“As such, the Bersatu Supreme Council decided to form a flood response team to mobilise rescue efforts for victims across the country,” he said in a statement.

According to Hamzah, fellow Supreme Council member Rafiq Abdullah will lead the “Skuad Prihatin Bersatu” that will be activated during the launch of Perikatan Nasional’s Pahang chapter in Temerloh on Oct 10.

“We will strengthen the squad from time to time to ensure all victims will be taken care of before, during and after the floods,” he said.

Hamzah added that the party’s top leadership meeting had also discussed election machinery preparations given that GE15 may take place at any time.
