According to Bernama, Ismail said the audience slated for 4pm would focus on matters involving the Cabinet.
However, he said other matters would be discussed if there was time.
“I’m not really sure if we will discuss (the dissolution of Parliament) or not.
“If the discussion on Cabinet matters takes too much time or runs until the Maghrib prayers, then there will be no time to discuss other agenda,” he told reporters at the finance ministry.
Ismail also said he expected today’s meeting to take longer than usual as there were many issues he needed to explain to the King.
Speculation is rife that he might advise the King to dissolve Parliament, paving the way for the 15th general election (GE15).
Earlier today, education minister Radzi Jidin confirmed that the 12 ministers from Perikatan Nasional in Ismail’s Cabinet had signed a letter to the King to state their opposition to holding GE15 this year.
Opposition MPs have also opposed holding elections this year, citing the possibility of floods during the northeast monsoon season, expected from mid-November to March 2023.
Earlier, Sultan Abdullah attended a briefing on the nation’s disaster and flood preparedness at the National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre.
