According to Bernama, the Perak fire and rescue department was alerted about the floods at 10.05 pm yesterday, with 55 people initially evacuated to a relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Klebang
“As of 8am today, the number of evacuees at the relief centre has increased to 93 people from 33 families,” the spokesman said in a statement, adding that the department was monitoring the situation.
Meanwhile, 54 victims remain in two relief centres in Johor as floodwaters recede. This was a decrease compared to the 79 who were at the centres last night.
The two centres in Pontian and Kluang were used to relocate victims after flash floods struck several villages in the districts. The floods followed more than 10 hours of heavy rain since Sunday morning.
