93 evacuated after flood in Ulu Chepor, Perak

Meanwhile, 54 victims remain in two evacuation centres in Johor as floodwaters recede.

PETALING JAYA:
Some 93 villagers in Ulu Chepor, Perak have been evacuated after flash floods struck their village following continuous heavy rain since yesterday afternoon.

According to Bernama, the Perak fire and rescue department was alerted about the floods at 10.05 pm yesterday, with 55 people initially evacuated to a relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Klebang

“As of 8am today, the number of evacuees at the relief centre has increased to 93 people from 33 families,” the spokesman said in a statement, adding that the department was monitoring the situation.

Meanwhile, 54 victims remain in two relief centres in Johor as floodwaters recede. This was a decrease compared to the 79 who were at the centres last night.

The two centres in Pontian and Kluang were used to relocate victims after flash floods struck several villages in the districts. The floods followed more than 10 hours of heavy rain since Sunday morning.
