Man held for allegedly raping stepdaughter since 2017

The 64-year-old suspect was arrested a week ago after the girl, now 17, complained to her mother.

The stepfather faces a jail term of up to 30 years and whipping if convicted.
PETALING JAYA:
A 64-year-old man has been arrested in Segamat, Johor, for allegedly raping his 17-year-old stepdaughter since 2017.

Segamat district police chief Ahmad Zamry Marinsah said the suspect was arrested on Sept 21 after the girl complained to her mother.

“Preliminary investigations found that the victim had been subjected to these acts since she was 12,” Utusan Malaysia quoted Zamry as saying.

“The suspect committed the acts, which included oral sex, regularly and threatened the victim (not to reveal the matter).”

The man was remanded for a week, ending today.

He is being investigated under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code for rape, which provides for up to 30 years in jail and at least 10 strokes of the rotan, upon conviction.
