No qualms fighting BN if situation arises, says Wan Fayhsal

Bersatu, however, respects PAS’ stand not to see BN as a rival in the next general election, says Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal.

Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said the party would ‘not pull the hand brakes’ should it clash with BN in the polls.
KUALA LUMPUR:
A Bersatu leader said today while the party respects PAS’ refusal to see Barisan Nasional (BN) as a rival, it does not share the same sentiment.

Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said, Bersatu would “not pull the hand brakes” should it clash with BN in the coming general election.

PAS and Bersatu are part of Perikatan Nasional (PN).

“We respect the stand taken by our fellow component party. Yet, if we are forced to go up against BN, we won’t pull the hand brakes. We are ready to go against PH, GTA (Gerakan Tanah Air) and Warisan,” he said at a press conference.

Wan Ahmad Fayhsal was asked to comment on PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan’s statement that the Islamic party did not agree to depicting BN as the enemy.

Takiyuddin said PAS – which has since said it considers Umno as a “ta’awun” partner (cooperation partner) – had identified the real enemy as PH, as the coalition and its partners were “a hindrance to Muslim unity”.

Separately, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal said the party would defend its seats and would vie for the ones it lost in the Johor and Melaka state elections.

He also said PN would finalise its seats distribution in October.
