SEREMBAN:
Amanah president Mohamad Sabu has urged party leaders and members who are frustrated by the lack of success in expanding its wings in the east coast to remain patient and resilient.

Mohamad, better known as Mat Sabu, said when he was with PAS, the Islamic party had endured a similar situation when attempting to make inroads in Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor.

PAS had received a lukewarm reception in those states, he said.

“What the Amanah leaders and members are going through in Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang was what we (from PAS) experienced before.

“We used to lose deposits,” he said, referring to candidates who lost in the previous polls. Mohamad said this at the party’s convention here this evening.

Kelantan and Terengganu are considered PAS strongholds.

However, Mohamad said he was confident that Amanah’s members and leaders are a resilient lot who will eventually woo more supporters, as in other states.

“All that is needed is for the party to show its calibre. I am confident that what we are going through now is temporary and we will soon be celebrating,” he said.
