Family of 4 killed in 4-vehicle pile-up near Machap toll exit

The driver of one of the vehicles and his two children were pronounced dead at the scene while his wife died at the Kluang Hospital.

JOHOR BAHRU:
A family of four was killed in a four-vehicle crash along the North-South Highway near the Machap toll exit at Simpang Renggam, early this morning.

One person was injured while another two escaped unhurt in the 7am incident, Kluang police chief Bahrin Mohd Noh said.

He said the pile-up involved a Perodua Myvi, a Toyota Hiace, a Volvo trailer and a Toyota Corolla, which were all heading towards Johor Bahru from Kuala Lumpur.

He said the dead were Toyota Corolla driver Goh Tiong Seng, in his 50s; his wife Hong May Yin, also in her 50s, and their daughter Goh Pei Chiew and son Goh Xuan Ting, both in their 20s.

Bahrin said Goh and his two children were pronounced dead at the scene while his wife died at the Kluang Hospital while receiving treatment.

The Myvi driver and the trailer driver were not injured while the injured Hiace van driver was taken to Kluang Hospital for treatment.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
